Al-Ahmadi Governorate is a Kuwaiti governorate that was established in 1962. It was called Al-Ahmadi after the name of the late Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the tenth Emir of Kuwait, during whose reign oil extraction began.
